"I am very excited to be joining an innovative company
at such an exciting stage in its development and
very much look forward to helping shape BOFA’s
product range as we continue to reach new markets
around the world."
"Sawing, routing, milling and particularly sanding processes are known to generate inhalable dust, with the potential to create lung disease and breathing problems unless appropriate extraction systems are in place,"
"If not captured through effective local exhaust ventilation (LEV), this fine particulate can lead to occupational asthma, skin disorders, rhinitis and, in the case of hardwood dust, a rare type of nasal cancer. The fumes associated with dyes and solvents also need to be managed effectively."
"What’s commonly overlooked is that as well as having a primary health benefit, a properly designed and installed extraction system also delivers productivity gains because maintaining a dust-free environment keeps machinery in optimum working condition and can avoid costly downtime caused by equipment contamination,"says John Horsey.
"This acknowledgment of our success in flying the flag for Britain around the world is testament to our business strategy since a management buy-out in 2015 and the dedication and hard work of our people. "
"We now export to over 120 countries and see potential for further growth, particularly in China and the Far East, as workplace health and safety rules continue to tighten around the world."
"BOFA’s core values of innovation, customer service and support for our people are central to our strategic plans as we continue our upward curve in export sales. We are very excited about the future,"said Tony Lockwood.
"The laser industry already benefits from high levels of automation, but digitalisation and data integration, as envisioned by Industry 4.0, brings new opportunities to optimise productivity through remote collaboration,"says Haydn Knight, Sales and Marketing Director at BOFA.
"We’re embracing this new way of working through innovations linked to our Intelligent (iQ) Operating platform, which is revolutionary in its own right, having transformed extraction system control and communication through remote diagnostics. Our latest developments in this area brings Cloud-enabled functionality for the first time ever in the next generation of fume extraction: iQ2 – supporting our customers’ wishes for more effective real-time monitoring and better reporting tools. We know the market wants closer filter performance management and our enhanced filter management system with SMART filter technology allows the user to predict important system requirements including filter life and change, system maintenance and early diagnostics - further widening the technology gap with our competitors."
"We are very proud to fly the flag for British manufacturing and our investment in these new facilities will enhance our ability to innovate and expand as we drive forward our ambitious plans for the future,"said Tony Lockwood, BOFA International Managing Director.
"Our achievement of the Queen’s Award for Innovation last year reaffirmed to me the importance of the company’s core values of innovation, customer service and support for our people in the implementation of our strategic plans to meet growing worldwide demand for our technology."
"BOFA performed exceptionally well against our key criteria of leadership and vision, driving innovation and approach to new markets, all leading to sustained growth with great prospects for the future. They have a very clear three year plan that has been written following sound collaboration and research and that includes investment in new technologies and a real focus on retaining and rewarding their people."
"It’s essential that every product we make is made with precision and is right first time. This care and attention is also extended to our working environment and the health of our employees. Looking after our staff is very important to us, so we wanted to make sure that we have the best extraction equipment available.
The DentalPRO 400s work really well with what we do here, and the stay-put arms are a great asset to our work. We are able to keep our products close to us so that we can give them the detail that they need, but also make sure that all of our technicians are protected."
"I am delighted to welcome Torsten and David to the BOFA family as we seek to build on the excellent performance of the company in 2017."
"We see great opportunities for our technology around the world in the year ahead as awareness grows about the value of our systems, not just in keeping people safe in the workplace but in improving productivity. These appointments will help us to achieve our objectives in what promises to be another positive year for BOFA."
"We continue to support the growth of these companies that deliver huge amounts to the local and UK economy. It’s a pleasure to recognise three such successful businesses to the success of the region’s economic engine. We look forward to revealing the winner next month."
"Quality is a process not an event,"says Alan.
"In some organisations, the quality manager is seen as being responsible for quality, but at BOFA there’s growing recognition that it is the responsibility of everyone…and that’s when quality becomes a way of working, not a target."
"I think it’s more accurate to describe the QMS as a Business Management System because it covers every area of activity, from production management, product development and customer services through to HR, financial controls and training,"says Alan.
"It is by working collaboratively with our customers and suppliers, by developing staff competencies and by fostering creativity, empowerment and accountability that we can meet the very high quality standards that we set ourselves for our products and services."
"Ultimately, quality is measured by our customers’ experience and the satisfaction of our stakeholders. By listening to customers, we can learn from them to ensure that our product innovation not only gives them what they need but also perhaps some new functionality that they weren’t expecting but which adds significant value to them. At BOFA, when it comes to quality, we never say ‘job done’ – it’s a journey not a destination."
"As a UK manufacturer, we’re very proud of our heritage and committed to nurturing future talent for industry, as demonstrated by our own apprenticeship programme,"said Tony Lockwood, Managing Director.
"So we are delighted to mark our 30th year of operation by supporting Weymouth College and the next generation of local engineers through the donation of fume extraction equipment designed and made in Dorset."
"Our mechatronics module will equip students and apprentices with specialist multi-disciplinary competences in considerable demand in industry. The donation from BOFA is particularly pleasing, given the company’s world leadership in this field."
"At BOFA, we are very proud of being a successful British manufacturer, and to receive this recognition in what is our 30th year is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work of everyone at the company."

Lasers generate a much higher proportion of particles in the 1-5 micron range than other thermal processes? The most harmful particle sizes are 1-3 microns. Particles less than 30 microns are not visible to the naked eye. Almost all are inhalable.
Toxic gases can cause ‘acute inhalation injury’ ranging from minor respiratory discomfort to acute lung and airway injury and, in extreme cases, even fatality.
BOFA's Regional Manager D/A/CH, Thorsten Foecking said:
“I would like to thank everyone who came to the stand for their positive comments about our new technological advancements. LASYS proves to be a very good showcase for our products and new ideas.”
“Als Leitmesse für industrielle Laseranwender ist die Lasys ein sehr wichtiger Bestandteil, um nahe an unseren technologisch interessierten Kunden zu sein. Auch dieses Mal konnten wir durch unsere neuesten Produktvorstellungen ein hohes Interesse verzeichnen.
Auf der Messe wurde ebenfalls wieder deutlich, dass die Personen- sowie Prozesssicherheit einen hohen Stellenwert bei den Anwendern hat.”
“The BOFA name has a long association with industrial Health and Safety compliance and the protection of workers. Whilst we have an established presence in many sectors, the 3D market is of particular interest. As it is growing so quickly, more and more printing applications and materials are being identified and it is important that the associated health risks are suitably managed. The development of the 3D PrintPRO range provides a great solution for today’s applications. We would welcome the opportunity to share our knowledge with sellers and printer manufacturers who are looking for added safety assurance for future products.”
“I am delighted that we’ve been given the opportunity to continue the good work that has gone before. BOFA has enjoyed a remarkable period of growth and we firmly believe that the trend will continue over the coming years.”
“The change in ownership enables our chairman and founder Dave Cornell, to begin a richly deserved retirement, and Lawrence Cornell to leave the business to pursue other interests. I have taken up the position of managing director, and I’ve strengthened the management team by bringing in James Oliver as our finance Director. Chris Cornell will remain with the company and will play a key role in project development.”
“Our investment plans will enable us to deliver even higher levels of service to our customers and will afford us the opportunity to fully develop business opportunities that lie ahead.”
